In order to help members of the community during this crisis, the Port of Bremerton is donating $2,500 to The Kitsap County Food Bank Coalition. This contribution will be distributed equally between four food banks within the Port of Bremerton’s district.
“During this most difficult time many people are out of work and without resources to purchase food, for that reason the Port Commissioners and the staff at the Port want to try and help and have decided to donate $2,500 to The Kitsap County Food Bank Coalition,” Commissioner Cary Bozeman said. “We hope other Ports in Kitsap County will also decide to contribute to this important mission of feeding our neighbors in need. We will get through this.”
Port CEO Jim Rothlin added, “It’s important for the Port to help the community weather this storm during these critical times. We’re looking into numerous ways we can help right now to pursue our mission in supporting the economy and to find ways to take care of our community."
The Kitsap County Food Bank Coalition (KCFBC) consists of 9 individual non-profit hunger-relief agencies located on the greater Kitsap Peninsula that provide assistance year-round to our hungry neighbors from Belfair to Bainbridge Island. This includes South Kitsap, Bremerton, Central Kitsap, Poulsbo and Kingston. To address the unique needs of each agency, donations will be used to help support the purchase of food or sundries (toilet paper, diapers, soap, and other non-food supplies), essential safety and cleaning supplies to maintain facility, and business expenses (utilities, shipping costs, distribution bags, etc.).
