This project is an approved Federal Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) project, and includes the replacement of the existing High Intensity Runway Lighting (HIRL) system, the Medium Intensity Taxiway Lighting (MITL) system, the Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL) system, the airport rotating beacon, all runway and taxiway signage, electrical transformers, electrical controls, and the backup emergency generator. At the completion of this project, all aforementioned airfield lighting will be 100% LED-equipped. The end result will be more reliable and more energy-efficient system, with significant reductions in the number of spare parts required to be maintained in inventory.
Total project cost is $2,309,610.82.
The Port’s Commissioners approved the project award to Colvico, Inc. of Spokane, WA on March 24, 2020.
Colvico is now in the process of procuring the required materials and parts. Construction will commence on July 6 and will continue until September 18. During the construction period, certain airport restrictions will exist at certain times to accommodate construction, including periodic taxiway closures, limited night operations, and a decrease in certain instrument approach procedures. Pilots and tenants should pay close attention to the airport’s Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) once construction begins.
